About Us
Junya shao (BIO)
Junya split her time between Yixing and the United States now, traveling throughout the United States teaching workshop and doing exhibition.
She is a ceramic artist whose works build upon the Yixing teapot tradition. Her teapots reflect a strong foundation in the methodology of exquisite craftsmanship and careful attention to detail and design. Working from this foundation, Junya’s teapots are contemporary expressions of her own ideas about beauty and form. Many works have been exhibited in New Zealand, Amsterdam, the United States and China. She also holds several place awards.
Junya's education began fourteen years ago with an apprenticeship in Yixing. There she learned the techniques of traditional Zisha teapots. She went on to study fine art at Jingdezhen Ceramic College, then joined to build the Xiaopingstudio with her husband-Xiaoping.
